Is it real

Yesterday was challenging.  Went to workforce center.  The department of ageing and rehabilitative services session.  Only three of us there.  One person was a former marine, had heart surgery, stents and a stroke.  He may have been in his 50's too.  However, he looked older due to health issues.  The other individual is a former drug user who is trying to return to work.  Has been truck driver.  The staff person who aids in assisting us with a contact person for services ask him, 'what is your DOC'?  Thought the acronym stood for department of corrections.  Thinking what weird akward wording.  No, it means drug of choice.  He said cocaine.  The employee asked him, what method does he use.  He said free basing.  Well, I tried not to bulge my already ageing eyeballs.  Glad I decided to go last.  No HIPPA there.  Wow, it is not for us to judge.  All one can hope is for recovery.  Life is difficult enough.  I can't imagine alcohol or drug abuse.  Had to deal with it at work but not in my personal life.  The guys' answer is that he tries to numb the pain of existance.  What if all of us decide to deal with our plight by this method.  Think how dangerous these people would be operating equipment?  I know that it will be a struggle for me to find work.  Want to be able to work during the day.  Want to look forward to what I do.  Don't want SSDI.  Did want the two years LTD from former employer, while I retrain for a career.  Oh no, you have worked since age 16.  No, can do.  This is how I feel.  I may be unable to find 'suitable' work.  I have to be positive.  Can I do this?
